Several Soda Canyon Road neighbors are working together with the Napa Communities Firewise Foundation (FCFF) to reestablish the Soda Canyon Fire Safe Council (SCFSC). Building upon the hard work by Gard Leighton and the members of the previous Fire Safe Council, the SCFSC is planning a Soda Canyon Emergency Preparedness Meeting for later this summer. Following this meeting, the council will schedule regular meetings, recruit and register members, and work together to mobilize neighbors to protect their homes, community, and environment from wildfire and increase public safety.
The Napa Communities Firewise Foundation is made up of twelve neighborhood Fire Safe Councils. The Soda Canyon Council was initially established in 2012 and with the help of the FCFF resources and leadership, it will once again become an active group. A consultant paid for by the Napa Communities Firesafe Foundation will work with the Soda Canyon group to update existing information by assessing and evaluating the unique needs of the Soda Canyon community. Along with Soda Canyon neighbors, projects will be developed that will make our community more defendable in a wildfire, including planning and executing fuel reduction projects.
Please join us in keeping Soda Canyon safe!
